Common questions
What are UTM parameters and which ones matter?
Tags added to a link so analytics can attribute the visit. Source, medium and campaign do almost all the work; term and content only matter if you're splitting ads within a campaign.
Why don't my UTM numbers match my ad platform?
They rarely do. Ad platforms count a click; analytics counts a session that survived the redirect, ad blockers and consent banners. A gap of 10–20% is normal — a gap of 60% means something is broken.
How should I name campaigns so this stays readable?
Lower-case, hyphenated, and consistent. 'Summer_Sale', 'summer sale' and 'summer-sale' become three separate rows in every report, and no amount of analysis fixes that after the fact.
