Common questions

How does a weighted pipeline forecast work?

Each deal's value is multiplied by the win probability of its stage, then summed. A £100k deal at a 30% stage contributes £30k, which keeps early-stage optimism from inflating the forecast.

What probabilities should I assign to each stage?

Derive them from your own history rather than using defaults — the proportion of deals at each stage that actually closed over the last few quarters. Borrowed probabilities forecast someone else's business.

What pipeline coverage do I need to hit quota?

Three to four times quota is the common benchmark, which follows from a 25–33% win rate. If your coverage is fine but you're still missing, the win rate is the problem, not the pipeline volume.
